- ➤ San Angelo’s Mini Miss Wool Pageant takes place Jan. 24 at 5 p.m. at Brooks & Bates Theatre for children ages 6 to 14 and will feature stage performances and themed wool heritage activities with prizes including a custom sheep trophy (registration details available through Downtown San Angelo). - ➤ Fort Concho and ASU will host a free monthly lecture series on the American Revolution, starting with Dr. Kenna Archer’s talk - Writing an Origin Story - on Thursday, Jan. 29 at 6 p.m. in the Commissary Building with light refreshments. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ San Angelo ISD announced that longtime assistant athletic director Mark Baker will retire on Jan. 30 after a 36-year career at Central and Lake View high schools. The Monahans native and former Chicago Bears player has been a key figure in local education — his retirement marks a milestone. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Dr. Bruce E. Bechtol Jr. from Angelo State University has been named a Distinguished Fellow at Hebrew University of Jerusalem (Israel’s top-ranked institution per the 2025 Shanghai rankings) to further his research on North Korea and international security. San Angelo LIVE!
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ UTPB outshot Angelo State on Tuesday, winning 76–67 at the Junell Center — Stephens Arena and leaving the Rambelles with a 5–9 record. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ The Angelo State men’s basketball team snapped a three-game losing streak with an 80-77 win over UT Permian Basin Tuesday at the Junell Center. The win improved their record to 12-7 and they will host UT Dallas at 7:30 p.m. Thursday. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Angelo State University’s Foster Field (at 1600 University Ave) was voted best in NCAA Division II. The baseball complex built in 2000 seats 4,200 fans and features modern lighting, dugouts, and a video scoreboard. San Angelo LIVE!
