COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Tom Green County Junior Livestock Show returns this weekend and debuts the Promenade of Champions at 4 p.m. today at the San Angelo Fairgrounds (200 W. 43rd St.). The event will honor 4-H and FFA youth with a live emcee, group photo moment, and special surprises.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Downtown San Angelo, Inc. received a $5,000 grant from the Anice B. Read Fund to support building a second archway at the northern entrance near Angelo Catholic Outreach Center. Construction planning is underway and work is set to begin this fall (honoring the city’s creative heritage).  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • San Angelo ISD has set the Class of 2026 graduation ceremonies for PAYS on May 21 at 6 p.m. at the McNease Convention Center + Lake View and Central High on May 23 at 9 a.m. and 2 p.m. at ASU's Junell Center; all events will be streamed live online.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Frenship’s size advantage proved too much as the Lady Tigers won 47-33 against San Angelo Central on Friday. Key player Jada Jackson (6-foot-2) led Frenship with 13 points and seven rebounds as Central fell to a 1-2 start and prepares for upcoming road games.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The San Angelo Central Bobcats started District 2-6A play with a 73-57 win over the Frenship Tigers on Friday night. Ean McNeill and TK Taylor combined for 30 points as the team turned a slow start into a dominant performance.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • At the UIL Spirit State Championships Thursday, Sonora’s cheerleading team placed third with a score of 85.47 while New Home clinched the 2A Division I title with 86.3 points. Ballinger and Christoval also qualified, and San Angelo Central is set to compete Saturday at 11:22 a.m.  San Angelo LIVE!
