COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Keep America Beautiful is accepting applications for the 2026 MLK Corridor Community Grants — supporting community-led beautification projects like San Angelo’s Looping Us Together along MLK corridors. Applications are due by 4 p.m. Feb. 16 and funded projects will run from May through December.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • San Angelo ISD will hold Class of 2026 graduation ceremonies with PAYS students on Thursday, May 21 at McNease Convention Center and Lake View and Central seniors on Saturday, May 23 at ASU Junell Center; ceremonies will stream online for families (honoring student achievements).  KWFR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Greg Abbott has appointed ASU professor Dr. Sangeeta Singg to the Texas State Board of Examiners of Psychologists to set licensure standards for psychologists—Singg brings decades of academic and community leadership to the board.  KWFR

SPORTS NEWS

  • Angelo State head coach Jeff Girsch announced Wednesday that longtime assistant Jason Johnson was named the offensive coordinator after nine years as wide receivers coach + recruiting coordinator, and he will now also oversee quarterbacks.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Wall High School boys basketball is ranked No. 14 after wins over Merkel (70-27) and Clyde (64-45) last week, boosting their record to 20-5 overall and 4-0 in District 6-3A; the team will face Jim Ned today at 7:15 p.m. at home.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Last week’s upset wins reshaped girls state basketball rankings in Class 1A after Garden City’s 47-33 win over No.7 Irion County moved them to No.15 and Ballinger’s 53-48 loss dropped them to No.25 — while Christoval and Ozona climbed into playoff positions.  San Angelo LIVE!
