  • Lily’s Pizza celebrates its five-year anniversary today at 2424 Vanderventer Ave. with $5 medium pizzas and nanjos for dine-in customers (the event includes a live feed on KIXY 94-7-FM from 4 to 6 p.m., live music by Nathan Vinson, and a free arcade).  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • Frisco native Tristan Roberson, the 18-year-old country singer-songwriter, will perform with his full band Saturday, Feb. 21 at Arc Light Bar and Grill (inside the Clarion Hotel) on Rio Concho Dr. Advance tickets are still available at the 300-capacity venue as he brings his award-winning music to San Angelo.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Central High School was briefly evacuated on Feb. 18 after a vague voicemail threat prompted a police investigation — officials later confirmed the threat was a hoax.  San Angelo Standard-Times
  • Angelo State University will host Dr. C. Bradley Thompson at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Feb. 25 at the Carr Education-Fine Arts Building's Eldon Black Recital Hall & offer a free lecture on the Declaration of Independence with light refreshments as part of the E. James Holland Symposium on American Values.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The federal Office for Civil Rights investigation remains open over alleged discrimination at San Angelo ISD. The case, filed on May 3, 2024, involves claims centered on the bilingual program at Glenmore Elementary (alleged issues with teachers, parents and students) and the district has not commented.  San Angelo Standard-Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Angelo State senior Austin Beck was named the National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association Hitter of the Week after posting a 10-of-16 performance and driving in 10 runs during a four-game series against Sul Ross State — the Rams host Oklahoma Christian today at 6:30 p.m. at Foster Field.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State Rams will host a three-day Lone Star Spring Break Camp for baseball players ages 8-13 starting Monday, March 16 at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium. The camp costs $150 and offers instruction in throwing, hitting and fielding led by head coach Kevin Brooks and team members.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State will play its final home games this weekend at the Junell Center+Stephens Arena, hosting Lubbock Christian at 5:30 p.m. Thursday and facing Midwestern State at 1 p.m. Saturday; the Rambelles, on an eight-game win streak, will honor seniors in their closing regular-season match.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Water Valley's six-man football standout Landon Lacy signed Wednesday to play 11-man football at Hardin-Simmons University, with his family, coaches and school in attendance as he prepares for the next level.  San Angelo LIVE!
