ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A garage fire on Friday afternoon on Bowie Street in north San Angelo knocked out power for at least five homes as fire and utility crews responded promptly and expected power restoration by 6:30 p.m.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • Fort Concho is hosting a free event honoring Buffalo Soldiers with a musical and historical display tomorrow, Feb. 22 at 2-3:30 p.m. at the Commissary Building on Henry O. Flipper and Burgess streets — historian John Langellier will lead a presentation on the troops’ band legacy.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Angelo State University’s College of Science & Engineering will host its free STEM Lab Night on Tuesday, Feb. 24 from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. at the Hunter Strain Engineering Labs on Vanderventer Ave—interactive experiments and demonstrations will help students and families explore science.  San Angelo LIVE!

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • More than 700+ rainbow trout were stocked in the Concho River at Oakes Street Lake on Friday, Feb. 20 by Texas Parks and Wildlife Department in the season's final stocking. Anglers are encouraged to follow fishing license rules and bag limits.  San Angelo LIVE!

HEALTH NEWS

  • Brown County man Justin Kern sued Shannon Medical Center & three physicians after surgery allegedly left foreign material in his body, causing an infection that lasted over 20 months; his jury trial is set for April 13 at 9 a.m. at the 391st District Court.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • On Friday night in Baird, the No. 1-ranked Wall Lady Hawks overcame a halftime deficit to defeat Tolar 58—42 and secure the Area Championship. Head Coach Sylas Chrysler said the win prepared the team for future challenges.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Angelo State women's golf team will compete in the Rattler Invitational in San Antonio on Feb. 23-24 (hosted by St. Mary’s at Dominion Country Club) after a three-week break, following a tie for second at the Jack Brown Invitational.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State Rambelles won 65-58 over ranked Lubbock Christian on Thursday night at the Junell Center, thanks to game-changing plays by Taylor Grona and Majik Esquivel. The Belles improved to 14-9 overall and will face Midwestern State at 1 p.m. Saturday.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • San Angelo Central's Elsa Reel qualified for the finals on Friday at the UIL Swimming & Diving Class 6A State Meet by setting a new school record in the 200-yard individual medley and placing third in the 100-yard breaststroke. She will compete against seven swimmers at the Lee + Joe Jamail Texas Swimming Center at the University of Texas at Austin on Saturday.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • On Thursday, local girls basketball teams moved on in the playoffs as Mason Cowgirls beat Skidmore-Tynan 50-33 to secure their 29th win while Ozona won 43-30 and Irion County also advanced, though Christoval and Reagan County saw their seasons end. Upcoming games are scheduled for early next week.  San Angelo LIVE!
