COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Community members gathered at Rose Park today for an Epstein survivor rally (support provided by local groups) to share their stories and stand together in solidarity.  FOX West Texas

CULTURE NEWS

  • The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo announced its 2026 live music schedule with performances on the Lone River Stage—located at the Buffalo Social Club—from April 3 through April 19. Upcoming Texas acts will perform after daily rodeo events.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • University Theatre at Angelo State University will stage the dark comedy Mr. Burns, a Post-Electric Play starting Thursday, Feb. 26 at the Modular Theatre on Dena Drive (shows are at 8 p.m.) with a 2 p.m. matinee on March 8 (tickets range from $10 to free for ASU students).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • On Sunday, historian John Langellier spoke at Fort Concho+ highlighting the lasting legacy of Buffalo Soldier bands and their role in shaping local music traditions.  FOX West Texas

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Lake View High School earned straight 1s at the UIL State Mariachi Festival last Thursday — the fourth straight year — and became one of only seven Class 4A schools in Texas to achieve this honor as Mikayla Gaspar was named an Outstanding Performer under director Rosendo Ramos.  San Angelo LIVE!

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Texas Parks & Wildlife stocked over 700 rainbow trout in the North Concho River near Oakes Street on Feb. 23 for winter stocking in San Angelo. Anglers can catch up to five fish per day, & kids fish free.  KWFR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • City Parks and Recreation Director Carl White, who has served over 25 years since arriving in 2000, announced his retirement and will continue to lead until year-end. He will assist with finding his successor (ensuring a smooth transition).  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Forsan won 89-65 Monday night at Angelo State’s Junell Center in a closely contested playoff game, rallying in the final quarter after an even fight in the first half. The team, now 26-5, will face No. 7 Ropes in the area round later this week.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Fisherman Josh Jones caught his record fifth Legacy ShareLunker, a 13.51-pound bass, at O.H. Ivie Reservoir on Saturday, Feb. 21, about 55 miles east of San Angelo & set a new milestone in his fishing streak.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State University announced Harold Munoz as the new head coach for its women’s soccer program. He served nine seasons as an assistant coach helping the team win seven Lone Star Conference titles and now replaces longtime leader Travis McCorkle.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The No. 14 Wall Hawks beat the Brady Bulldogs 64-31 in the Bi-District Round in Eden on Monday night and advanced to the Area Round, with strong defense and steady scoring setting up their next game against the winner of Tolar and Henrietta.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State sophomore Majik Esquivel was named the Lone Star Conference Offensive Player of the Week for the second straight week after league officials announced it Monday. She helped the Rambelles extend a 10-game win streak by scoring 25 points (with 5.5 rebounds and 2.5 assists) in key matchups.  San Angelo LIVE!
