COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Justin Jonas was named San Angelo Chamber of Commerce Man of the Year 2026 during an awards ceremony held yesterday (his work in agriculture and business has spurred local growth).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • On Mar. 7, Brews, Ewes & BBQ will return downtown with live music, a high-energy BBQ cook-off, a Kids’ Que, and a vendor fair. The free event will feature craft brews and tasty food from 11 a.m. through the evening, offering festive family fun.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • San Angelo Christian Academy will host a Texas Independence Day program on Monday, Mar. 2 at Fort Concho from 1-2 p.m. The event will include a flag ceremony, patriotic music, and an address by retired Texas Ranger Sgt. Philip Kemp, with parking available across South Oakes Street and limited seating.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Angelo State University's Department of Biology will host its annual Open House for the Natural History Collections on Tuesday, Mar. 3, from 5-8 p.m. at Room 100 of the Cavness Science Building. The free event includes interactive booths, tours and Dr. Loren Ammerman’s bat talk + a silent auction benefiting the collection endowment.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas Parks and Wildlife is asking for public comment on proposed changes to the 2026—27 hunting regulations, which include an earlier dove season opening, reduced wild turkey bag limits and extended doe days across 21 counties — feedback can be submitted online or at the March 26 hearing in Austin.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • The TPWD released this week’s fishing report for local waters beginning Feb. 25, 2026. The report finds varied conditions at area lakes (with crappie, bass and catfish in shallow pre-spawn areas) and advises anglers to adjust their tactics.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Wall Lady Hawks debuted at No. 13 in Class 3A with a 12-1 record and eight wins as they face Anderson-Shiro and begin district play at San Angelo TLCA on Tuesday, Mar. 3. Wins over Floresville (No. 18) and Hawley (No. 19) boosted their rank.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The No. 1-ranked Wall Lady Hawks will face the No. 2-ranked Coahoma team today at 6 p.m. at Howard College’s Dorothy Garrett Coliseum in Big Spring (the winner advances to the state semifinals).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Texas Girls Coaches Association released the first state softball rankings, listing teams for each class (from 1A/2A to 6A) and noting a tie for top spots in Class 1A/2A and Clyde leading Class 3A. The rankings offer a statewide look as teams gear up for the season.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State women’s tennis team is traveling to Oklahoma this weekend for matches against Arkansas Tech and Southeastern Oklahoma to extend their undefeated record. Coach Jason Potthoff leads the team (including top-ranked sophomore Margaux Rene) as they test their unbeaten streak on the road.  San Angelo LIVE!
