  • The 24th annual KIXY Cares for Kids Radiothon takes place this Thursday, Friday and Saturday at Sunset Mall and airs live on 94.7 KIXY FM. The event supports the Children's Miracle Network at Shannon Medical Center by sharing local families' stories to boost pediatric care.  KWFR

BUSINESS NEWS

  • SpaceX is set to debut Version 3 of its Starship — a larger and more powerful rocket — on test flight 12 from Starbase in South Texas possibly in early March to support NASA’s moon missions and Mars dreams.  San Angelo Standard-Times

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Last week, several TLCA student-athletes sought medical treatment after a disciplinary workout that included 400 pushups — the school is investigating the incident and is in contact with the relevant agencies.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city declared March as March for Meals Month during Tuesday’s City Council meeting, and community champions will start meal delivery routes on March 19 (honoring longtime volunteer Carol Santry).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • San Angelo Mayor Tom Thompson proclaimed March for Meals Month to honor Meals For The Elderly’s 50 years of delivering over 4 million meals to more than 10,000 people. The city will mark the month with a check presentation on March 10 + meal deliveries by Community Champions on March 19.  San Angelo Standard-Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • Wall senior quarterback Landon York was named Offensive Player of the Year on the TSWA Class 3A All-State Football Team, as his team earned its first state title with a 16-0 record. He passed for 4,019 yards and 49 touchdowns during a season in which teammates also received honors.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Wall Hawks opened District 6-3A play with a commanding 29-0 win over TLCA San Angelo on Tuesday night in Wall — early scoring and solid pitching helped secure the shutout, as noted by head coach Jeremy Gordon.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • San Angelo Central's senior TK Taylor was named District 2-6A MVP after he led the Bobcats to their first undisputed district title in 14 years (the team finished 29-5 overall and 11-1 in district play before a playoff loss).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Wall senior Reid Ballard announced his commitment Monday to play baseball next year at Odessa College + he led the Hawks to state titles in both baseball and football last season, joining teammate Kellan Oliver.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The ASU Handball Club won three national titles and placed fourth in the Combined Open Division at the USHA National Collegiate Championships in St. Louis, Missouri. Student-athletes earned gold medals by Kimberly Hostetter, Andrew Nunez, and the doubles team while setting new school records.  San Angelo LIVE!
