- ➤ San Angelo residents mourn local icon Kregg 'Crab' Black, who was known for his bright smile and signature wave while riding his bicycle. Many shared heartfelt tributes online—official funeral details have not been released. FOX West Texas
- ➤ The annual Brews, Ewes & BBQ Festival will return to downtown San Angelo on March 15 at 325 S. Oakes St. from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m., offering barbecue, craft brews, live music and a state competition with a $6,150 prize. CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Brian Antonio Garcia, 43, from San Angelo was indicted on seven sex crimes against a child in November 2024 and is set for a jury trial on August 4, 2025—he posted bond in Llano County and is next seen in court on April 22, 2025. San Angelo LIVE!
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ Twenty-two Angelo State University faculty members received promotions effective Sept. 1—nine moved from associate professor to professor and thirteen advanced to associate professor with tenure after approval by the Texas Tech University System Board of Regents in Lubbock. - ➤ San Angelo TLCA’s Samantha Trevino finished fourth in the 148-pound class at the state powerlifting meet on Thursday in Edinburg with a 970-pound total lift—385 on squat, 230 on bench press and 355 on deadlift, earning two points for her team in a 22nd place finish. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Five area girls were named to the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches all-state team for basketball. Christoval’s Halle Hughes, Mason’s Anna Marie Whitworth, and San Saba’s Cinzlea Stanton earned spots on Class 2A while Irion County’s Berkley Callaway and Richland Springs’ Flora Appleton were chosen for Class 1A.
