  • SoCo Taphouse & Brew Co., a longtime community hub in San Angelo, is on the market after 11 years in business. The owners will continue operations while they seek a buyer who understands its community role.  KWFR
  • Old Central Firehouse Pizzeria & Taproom is closing today at 200 S. Magdalen St. after six years of serving local patrons; new owners plan to transform the space into a venue while keeping the bed-and-breakfast open, and a second pizzeria remains on Knickerbocker Road.  San Angelo Standard-Times
  • A local operator was approved to open The Co-Pilot Grill at San Angelo Regional Airport following a city council vote— the restaurant is expected to serve meals throughout the day while an opening timeline remains unannounced.  KWFR

CULTURE NEWS

  • The San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo has announced its 2026 lineup featuring returning announcer Boyd Polhamus, clowns Justin Rumford and John Harrison, bullfighters Clay Heger and Dusty Tuckness, and internationally recognized horsemanship performer Dan James (set for April 3-5) along with pickup men Jake and Jeff Dees.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts is hosting a free Genetic Science Family Day on Saturday, Mar. 21 from 10 a.m. + 2 p.m. at the Education Studio at 1 Love Street where visitors will enjoy hands-on STEAM activities and a free children’s book giveaway.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State University's LWBIWH will host its annual Presents luncheon on Tuesday, April 7 at McNease Convention Center downtown + former Air Force pilot and SpaceX astronaut Scott Kidd Poteet will serve as keynote speaker, with the event supporting mammogram services and educational outreach.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Greg Abbott launched the Texas Jobs Council on March 16 to boost workforce development and meet high-demand job needs, while gubernatorial candidate Gina Hinojosa criticized the plan as a delay tactic for Texas workers; the council’s findings are due in November.  San Angelo Standard-Times

HEALTH NEWS

  • A Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center program offers free, early breast health screenings in San Angelo using Bexa—a handheld device that gives quick, radiation-free exams for younger women and provides follow-up telehealth consultations.  KWFR

  • Angelo State will host UT Dallas in a Lone Star Conference doubleheader at Mayer Field on Friday evening with first pitch at 5 p.m.—the matchup marks the teams’ first meeting after a strong Oklahoma road trip for the Rambelles.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Tarleton State defeated No.2 Texas Longhorns 6-1 on Tuesday in what became the Rams' biggest win ever. The team played in a conference with Angelo State just seven years ago.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Texas Girls Coaches Association released this week high school softball rankings for Classes 1A/2A, 3A, 4A, 5A, and 6A — listing each team’s position statewide. Fans can use the guide to follow team progress during the season.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State will try to rebound as the Rams travel to Laredo for a four-game Lone Star Conference series against Texas A&M International. They face a game on Friday at 2 p.m. at Jorge Haynes Field, a doubleheader Saturday, and a finale on Sunday.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • RISE Fitness will host the RISE Run on Saturday, April 25 at 118 Buckskin Drive in Butler Farms featuring one‑mile, 5K, and 10K races with food trucks and live music. Registration opened on Mar 17 and ends April 6, and donations will support The Four56 Church mission programs.  KWFR
