Whataburger’s Mushroom Swiss Burger will return on April 1 after a three-year hiatus — over 7,200 signatures led fans to demand its comeback — and it will be available until June 2 while customers support the Gratitude Initiative with round-up pledges.
The burger is part of Whataburger’s 75th anniversary celebration and can be ordered in-store, at the drive-thru, or via the app.
San Angelo man Alfredo Chavez, 21, was indicted by a Tom Green County grand jury for a drive-by shooting after a fight near the Shell Station on December 3 — the incident left a victim’s truck shot three times and his trial is set for Aug.

Corrections officers at Tom Green County Jail reported 25 people were booked in the last 24 hours and that 447 remain in custody—charges include assault family violence, drug possession, unauthorized use of a vehicle, and driving while intoxicated.

State Reps. Craddick and Landgraf introduced separate bills that would divert 10% of oil and gas severance taxes—allocating up to $250 million and $500 million respectively—to West Texas counties for road repairs, emergency services, education, and workforce projects.

City officials announced that clear bags measuring 12 inches in length, 12 inches in height and 6 inches wide are allowed if they include a logo no larger than 4.5 inches tall by 3.4 inches wide, and a one-gallon clear resealable bag plus a small bag the size of a hand are acceptable—backpacks, duffle bags, diaper bags, camera cases, large fanny packs, reusable grocery totes, large tote bags and purses are banned. The clear bag policy will not be in effect during the San Angelo Rodeo.
