COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Executive Director Charlotte Anderson presented her final Keep San Angelo Beautiful annual report Tuesday morning, highlighting a record year with 208 events, over 1,500 volunteers, and 4,721 service hours during her five years of leadership—she will retire in the coming weeks. The report also noted ongoing community initiatives and planned events to maintain the program’s success.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The 93rd annual San Angelo Rodeo—featuring nearly all defending world champions including last year’s all-around champion Shad Mayfield and missing bull riding champ Josh Frost due to surgery—returns this month. The event begins Friday at 7 p.m. at Foster Communications Coliseum and runs through April 18.  San Angelo LIVE!

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • One person was taken to the hospital this afternoon after two vehicles crashed at the intersection of South Jackson and West Avenue J—the incident is under investigation.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • A white Chevy Traverse struck a juvenile girl riding her bicycle at the Oak Grove—Laurel Oak intersection in a quiet San Angelo neighborhood on Wednesday at 3:45 p.m. and she was transported to Shannon Medical Center with a gash on her forehead and abrasions but did not appear to have incapacitating injuries.  San Angelo LIVE!

BUSINESS NEWS

  • A $4 million Watershed Car Wash project will open soon on North Bryant Boulevard near the Best Western hotel and KFC. City records show the project is one of the highest-value commercial developments in San Angelo — it is at 1434 N. Bryant Blvd. — and the new site will offer free vacuums.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • San Angelo teen Isaac Cajas, 17, agreed to a plea deal for possessing and promoting lewd visual material depicting children, after a cyber tip led to a search of his cellphone and Dropbox account that found more videos—he will face five years deferred adjudication as part of the deal.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Benjamin Martin, a senior majoring in music at Angelo State University, earned the 2024-25 Presser Undergraduate Scholar Award—winning a $3,000 scholarship and the title of Presser Scholar. His award recognizes his musical and academic excellence as well as his leadership as chosen by his music faculty.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas voters in many areas will cast ballots for local races on May 3—residents must register or update their information by today to be eligible. They can verify their voter status and get help at their county election offices or on the Texas Secretary of State website.  San Angelo LIVE!
