CULTURE NEWS

  • Today on LIVE, James Bouligny interviewed Raen LeVell about his film Outriding the Devil, set to premiere Wednesday, Apr. 8 at Cinemark Tinseltown, while Dan James discussed his love for the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo and training his horses like Applejack.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The San Angelo premiere of Outriding the Devil is an official event of the 94th Annual San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo. Rean LeVell will talk about the film at Cinemark Tinseltown on Wednesday, Apr. 8 at 7 p.m. (doors open at 6:30 p.m.) with a Q&A to follow.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Fort Concho invites residents to step back in time on April 25 from 7:30 a.m. to noon when it will host Frontier Day at the historic fort + visitors will see demonstrations like sheep shearing, bread making and 1880s-style baseball along with a pancake breakfast for a small fee.  KWFR
  • Rap legend Paul Wall will perform with the San Angelo Community Orchestra on June 5 at Murphey Performance Hall for a benefit concert supporting YMCA child care programs and summer camp scholarships for its 175th anniversary (tickets go on presale later this month).  KWFR
  • Dan James (of Double Dan Horsemanship) performs with his horse Applejack at the 94th Annual San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo today, showcasing his passion for horsemanship.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Railway Museum will host National Train Days May 9-10 featuring a Model Train Jamboree and vendor sales at the Pearl on the Concho Hotel and Conference Center in downtown. The event will include the play On the Right Track May 9-17 and passport stamping for kids, with tickets from $7.  San Angelo Standard-Times

ECONOMY NEWS

  • New industry data showed Texas oil and gas companies lost 600 upstream jobs in January amid global uncertainty and fluctuating prices, while San Angelo's local unemployment stays below the state average. Higher oil prices above 110 dollars a barrel may spur future investments.  KWFR

EDUCATION NEWS

  • San Angelo ISD is enrolling students for the 2026-27 school year and parents of returning students need to update their information on the PowerSchool Parent Portal. Registration is open for pre-kindergarten through 12th grade and enrollment is available online via smartphone & computer.  KWFR

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • San Angelo State Park officials said that rattlesnakes were seen along trails and rocky areas as warm weather let them come out. Visitors are urged to wear closed toe shoes and watch their step to avoid startling the reptiles.  KWFR

  • The 2026 San Angelo LIVE All-Star Boys Basketball Team has been announced with top players including co-offensive MVPs Landon and Branson Lacy from Water Valley + Defensive MVP Paxton Brake from Wall, recognizing standout season performances from teams across the region.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • O.H. Ivie defended its Legacy Class ShareLunkers title on March 31 after Ted Taylor caught a 14.22-pound bass to break a tie with Lake J.B. Thomas — the lake 55 miles east of San Angelo earned its fifth win this season.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Local cowboy Joel Harris competed in the tie-down roping event at the Stock Show + Rodeo on Apr. 6, turning strong runs that earned him several thousand dollars and boosted his standings ahead of Championship Friday; he credited his horse Django for his success.  KWFR
  • Angelo State beat St. Edward's 3-2 in a 10-inning battle on Easter Sunday in Austin to improve their record to 25-13 and split the series with the Hilltoppers. The Rams return home to host West Texas A&M in a four-game series at Foster Field — Friday, Apr. 10 at 6:30 p.m.  San Angelo LIVE!
