- ➤ On Monday, San Angelo Police reminded residents not to leave pets in parked vehicles as temperatures continue to rise. Officials warned that a car’s temperature can jump 10 degrees in 10 minutes and up to 29 degrees in 20 minutes—posing serious risk to pets. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Today, the San Angelo City Council and Planning Commission hold a joint meeting at 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center to review proposed changes to zoning rules, signage ordinances, and a cultural district plan as well as contracts for mapping, HVAC systems, and public safety upgrades—officials say a regular council meeting will follow and the public may sign in to speak for up to three minutes. - ➤ A I-27 signage ceremony Monday marked the first step in the highway’s southward expansion toward San Angelo. The event extended I-27 by 4.2 miles along FM 1585 and was attended by state and local leaders — including Senator Ted Cruz and San Angelo Mayor Brenda Gunter — as part of the Ports-to-Plains corridor expansion. - ➤ Cody Gift caught a 51.55-pound flathead catfish at Lake Nasworthy and submitted it for official verification by Texas Parks and Wildlife. - ➤ Angelo State’s No.7 softball team completed a perfect weekend on Sunday at Mayer Softball Field—sweeping UT Permian Basin with 7-0 and 8-0 wins and defeating Sul Ross State to outscore opponents 33-1—and improved to a 37-9 record. They will travel to Eastern New Mexico on Wednesday and Western New Mexico on Friday before hosting Midwestern State on April 25 and West Texas A&M on April 27. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ San Angelo Central’s girls and boys gymnastics teams qualified for the state meet after competing at the regional meet in Odessa on Saturday. The girls team scored 232.55 points and is aiming for its seventh straight state title and 15th overall while the boys, who finished sixth last year, hope to improve their ranking at the meet scheduled for April 25-26 in Odessa. - ➤ The No. 1-ranked Angelo State baseball team swept West Texas A&M by a final score of (23-4) on Sunday afternoon at Wilder Park, with five home runs by five players boosting the win; the Rams improved to 35-7 while West Texas A&M dropped to 26-16, and ASU will host Eastern New Mexico for a four-game series starting Thursday at 6:30 p.m. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Angelo State senior Ethan Flodstrom was named the Lone Star Conference Hitter of the Week on Monday after leading the top-ranked Rams to a four-game sweep of West Texas A&M — he hit .588 with four home runs and ten RBIs, and the team will host Eastern New Mexico in a four-game series beginning Thursday at 6:30 p.m. at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium.
