COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The Carlie Jo's Journey Memorial Scholarship was created to support families affected by cancer, Meals for the Elderly celebrated National Volunteer's Week, and the Tom Green County Sheriff's Office warned residents about scammers. These local initiatives provided support and reminded residents to stay alert during recent community events.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Meals For The Elderly in San Angelo will celebrate National Volunteer Week from April 19 to 25 with daily volunteer appreciation events, including a luncheon on Thursday, April 23 at McNease Convention Center that will honor the volunteers serving 600 seniors in Tom Green, Concho, and Irion counties.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • Tessa Koskovich interviewed Pete Carr in the LIVE! Studio today; he explained how he began stock contracting and shared what the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo means to him.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Angelo State University has earned the Military Friendly School designation for the 17th time and is ranked No. 6 nationally among large public universities — the only Texas institution in the top 10 serving over 1,000 military-affiliated students.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The San Angelo Stock Show Syndicate launched the Chase McPhaul Memorial Scholarship to honor the late West Texas 4-H leader who died Feb. 26, and the fund will award $2,500 yearly to the champion Finewool exhibitor beginning in 2027 with a fundraising brunch at Spur Club on April 18.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Competitors at San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo locked 11 spots for Friday night's saddle bronc riding finals after Thursday's performance. Top qualifier Chase Brooks earned his berth with an 86.5 score and now prepares to ride for the title at the coliseum.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State’s softball team looks to build on its recent win as it plays St. Edward’s today at noon in Austin and will face St. Mary’s at 1 p.m. Sunday in San Antonio (the Rambelles swept their last weekend series).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Yesterday, three rodeo events in San Angelo featured top-ranked competitors Kassie Mowry, Riley Webb and Bradlee Miller in barrel racing + tie-down roping + bareback riding to secure spots in Friday’s finals. The 94th annual rodeo will conclude with the Cinch Chute-Out on Saturday and Tejano Day on Sunday.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Robert Ontiveros, a former coach at Crane and Angelo State alumnus, was hired as TLCA’s head football coach and athletic director and will start Monday, April 20. He takes charge of a program that struggled in recent seasons and is set to rebuild team performance.  San Angelo LIVE!
