  • Fort Concho celebrated Frontier Day Saturday by keeping alive a tradition that spans more than fifty years.  FOX West Texas
  • On Saturday, visitors enjoyed Frontier Day at Fort Concho with a pancake breakfast hosted by the Lion’s Club—live music, rope tricks, and demonstrations of 1800s skills including sheep shearing and old-time baseball brought history to life. On Wednesday, the Fort Concho Speaker Series will feature historian Charles Anderson, offering a free lecture in the Commissary at 702 Burgess from noon to 1 p.m.  San Angelo Standard-Times

CRIME NEWS

  • Corrections officers at the Tom Green County Jail reported 23 bookings in the past 24 hours—including charges of evading arrest with a vehicle, driving while intoxicated and assault causing bodily injury to a family member—with 424 individuals currently in custody.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • The #7 Angelo State softball team split its doubleheader with top-ranked West Texas A&M on April 27, winning 7-0 in the first game and losing 6-2 in the second. The Rambelles finished the regular season with 43 wins and 11 losses and will face the #6 Eastern New Mexico team in the Lone Star Conference quarterfinals on Thursday at 11 a.m.  KWFR
  • The Angelo State Rams clinched their eighth regular season Lone Star Conference championship when they swept Cameron in Oklahoma on Friday, finishing the season with a 41–7 record. The team now holds the #1 seed and a first-round bye in the tournament and will begin double-elimination play on Thursday, May 8.  KWFR
