  • San Angelo State Park has scheduled a series of outdoor events for May — including wildflower walks starting May 4, a full moon hike on May 11, a sunset hike on May 24, and a Women’s Hike on May 25. The park will also offer bison and longhorn viewing every Wednesday and Saturday at 9 a.m.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Murdoch’s Ranch & Home Supply at 4001 Sunset Drive is holding its grand opening celebration from May 2 to May 4 with daily giveaways, a Bucket Sale offering discounts on 5-gallon bucket items, and prizes like a Yeti cooler and a Carhartt shopping spree. CRIME NEWS

  • Corrections officers said 17 people were booked in the past 24 hours at Tom Green County Jail for charges including court-committed murder, a second DWI, and drug possession—there are 425 people in custody.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Angelo State University's Jazz Ensembles program is hosting its final spring Jazz Combo Jam Session today from 4 to 6 p.m. at The House of FiFi DuBois on 123 S. Chadbourne St.—the event features a Jazz Combo performance from 4 to 5 p.m. before opening the stage for local musicians to join in.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Downtown San Angelo will host a themed pub-and-grub crawl tomorrow, May 4, from 2 p.m. to 7 p.m. at ten downtown venues to celebrate Cinco de Mayo and Star Wars Day—attendees must collect stamps for a chance to win prizes with handbills available at each spot.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Angelo State University professors Dr. Kenneth Carrell and Dr. David Faught were honored on May 1 with the TTU System’s 2025 Chancellor’s Council Distinguished Awards for research and teaching—each received a $5,000 stipend and an engraved medallion.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Shannon Medical Center is renovating a retail space at 3389 Knickerbocker Road and will spend $200K to open a new physical and occupational therapy clinic. The space — formerly used by West Central Wireless — now displays signage for Shannon South Physical and Occupational Therapy and will offer services including hand therapy and pelvic health.  San Angelo LIVE!
