  • Standard-Times reporter Rosanna Fraire won a state journalism award for her 2024 video on Meals for the Elderly that delivered home-cooked holiday meals to disabled older residents.   • Growing Garden Cities, a San Angelo nonprofit, welcomed a group of special needs young adults to its improved community plant nursery, enhancing access to gardening—an effort to make outdoor activities more accessible for everyone.  FOX West Texas

CRIME NEWS

  • Corrections officers at Tom Green County Jail reported 15 bookings in the past 24 hours on charges including organized criminal activity, intoxication assault causing serious bodily injury, and felony DWI while 419 individuals remain in custody.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Election results from May 3 in San Angelo are now available—voters can learn which candidates won the local races.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • On May 2, the Texas Lottery came under scrutiny after a group used a courier service to buy every possible number combination for a jackpot, which affected legitimate players including one woman who lost her chance to win. Lotto.com filed a lawsuit claiming the lottery commission lacks the authority to ban such services + a bill in the Senate may soon make using courier services to play the lottery illegal.  KWFR

  • At the 2025 Texas High School State Track Meet on May 1, Lake View's Kentrell Johnson ran 200 meters in 21.30 seconds and finished fourth—just .01 seconds shy of a podium finish. The junior said he is determined to improve his time next season.  San Angelo LIVE!
