- ➤ Texas public school enrollment has dropped by more than 76,000 students statewide—San Angelo’s region lost 1,237 students. - ➤ Angelo State track teams finished strong at the Lone Star Conference Championships Saturday — the Rams came in second and the Rambelles took third. They will next compete at the NCAA Outdoor Championships from May 21-23 in Emporia, Kansas. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Angelo State's baseball program will host its Lone Star Summer Showcase Camp on June 16 at Foster Field at 1st Community Credit Union Stadium. - ➤ Wall and Reagan County softball teams prepare for regional finals later this week. Wall begins a three-game series against Coahoma at 6 p.m. Friday in Big Lake, and Reagan County meets Sundown in a one-game playoff at 6 p.m. Thursday in Andrews — both need three wins for state semifinals. - ➤ Angelo State's softball team earned its 20th NCAA Tournament berth and the No. 3 seed in the South Central Regional during Monday's selection show. - ➤ The Angelo State Rams baseball team was named the No. 3 seed in the South Central Regional for the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship, announced Sunday night. They will compete at UT Tyler with Metro State-Denver as winners advance to a best-of-three Super Regional. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Former San Angelo Central star Davis Martin lowered his ERA to 1.62 — the second-best mark in MLB — on Sunday when he pitched six innings for the Chicago White Sox against the Seattle Mariners. He is slated to start at 6:10 p.m. Saturday when his team hosts the Chicago Cubs. San Angelo LIVE!
