  • St. Joseph Catholic Church is hosting its annual Fiesta Festival today at 301 W. 17th St. with free live music, games, raffles and cultural entertainment from noon to 10 p.m., and the event will continue tomorrow from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. with additional activities including Lotería, vendor shopping and scheduled mass services on Sunday morning.  San Angelo LIVE!

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A driver in a black pickup truck cut lanes on N. Bryant to turn into Starbucks and collided with a red SUV on Friday afternoon, sending one person to the hospital while children in the truck stayed safe—police say the driver received a citation for an unsafe lane change and northbound traffic was slowed.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • Police Chief Travis Griffith addressed two internal investigations—one after officer Jonathan Montana resigned due to inappropriate communications with a student at Lake View High School on March 13 and another following officer Rodrigo Hernandez's arrest for failing to report suspected child abuse on March 26—and said the cases remain isolated and will continue to be reviewed.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Corrections officers at Tom Green County Jail reported 20 bookings in the past 24 hours, including charges of manufacturing over 400 grams of a controlled substance — evading arrest and assault of a pregnant person.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • San Angelo Police announced Friday morning that former school resource officer Jonathan Montana resigned from his position at Lake View High School after an internal review found his conduct fell short of department standards—he will not face criminal charges following clearance by the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • On May 8, San Angelo ISD students took part in the 2nd Annual ESC Region 15 Spanish Spelling Bee where Bradford Elementary fourth grader Esmeralda Cuevas—winner of the elementary division—and Lincoln Middle School eighth grader Melani Lopez won the middle school division. The top winners from each division will compete next month in the state contest in El Paso.  San Angelo LIVE!
