COMMUNITY NEWS

  • San Angelo’s VFW Post 1815 is seeking quotes from local paving companies — particularly veteran-owned ones — to repair its parking lot for veterans. Kelly Self, quartermaster and incoming commander, said the post invites community support to resolve the issue quickly.  San Angelo LIVE!

ECONOMY NEWS

  • In San Angelo, gas prices are $4.26 per gallon today + a 29-cent jump from last week as holiday travelers face the highest pump prices in four years.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • San Angelo ISD board members unanimously approved a 25-cent lunch price increase for the 2026-27 school year to meet federal targets + rising food costs. Elementary lunches will cost $3.25, secondary lunches will cost $3.50, and second breakfast will rise to $2.25 while free meals remain unchanged.  San Angelo LIVE!

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • TPWD urges boaters to clean, drain, and dry their watercraft this Memorial Day weekend (giant salvinia and zebra mussels pose a threat) to prevent invasive species from spreading between lakes, noting that moving these species is illegal.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Angelo State volleyball coach Chuck Waddington announced the 2026 schedule for the Belles after a record 2025 season. The team opens at the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational Aug. 28-29 at the Junell Center-Stephens Arena, with a road game on Sept. 1 and a conference tournament starting Nov. 11-13.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Former San Angelo pitcher Luke Young was called up to triple A Rochester on May 9 and is one promotion away from reaching the majors. He impressed in double A Harrisburg with a 2.04 ERA earlier this month, building on his standout high school and college performances.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • San Angelo Central offensive lineman Ethan Boyd received his ninth Division I offer from Abilene Christian University on Wednesday. The 6-foot-5, 300-pound player earned All-District honors last fall and has started 22 consecutive games as the team will open its season at home Aug. 28 against Abilene High.  San Angelo LIVE!
