COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Johnson’s Lawnhaven Memorial Gardens invites community members, veterans and families to its annual Memorial Day Observance at 10 a.m. Monday, May 25, at 4989 FM 1223 (featuring remarks from a Base Commander, a flag presentation and live patriotic music followed by a casual picnic lunch).  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Texas Agriculture Commissioner Sid Miller announced free summer meals for kids will be served at local schools, churches and nonprofit sites beginning June 1. Families can use the TDA website or call 2-1-1 to find a nearby meal site in low-income areas.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The City announced that River Fest will return along the Concho River on Sept. 19. The full-day celebration will feature live music, food, family activities and community events; food vendors should call (325-653-9577) to sign up for limited spots.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • On Friday, the San Angelo Fire Department received over $25,000 in swiftwater rescue gear donated by the local Rotary Club at Central Fire Station, 306 W. 1st St. The equipment fully equips its 16-member team + boosts emergency readiness.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • Rising Texas country singer Luke Prater performs tonight at Arc Light Bar & Grill at the Clarion in San Angelo as doors open at 8 p.m. and the show starts at 9 p.m., with tickets priced from $5 to $30.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas Game Wardens are urging local boaters to follow safety tips for Memorial Day weekend by checking life jackets + equipment and designating a sober operator before leaving the dock; they highlighted last year’s incidents to stress the importance of proper planning.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Former Wall High graduate Caleb Braden confirmed on social media Thursday that he is transferring from Dodge City Community College to join his hometown team at Angelo State. His move follows a standout season and will add depth to the Rams for next season.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State track and field athletes earned seven All-American honors on the opening day of the NCAA Division II Outdoor Championships at Emporia State. Marie Schuler earned a first-team honor with an eighth-place hammer throw finish + the relay team and others earned second-team honors.  San Angelo LIVE!
