- ➤ Summer meal programs across West Texas will begin next week to provide free nutritious meals to children and teens 18 and younger. In San Angelo, services kick off Monday, June 2 at sites including Goliad Elementary, Southside Boys & Girls Club, Glenmore Elementary, Lake View High School, Fannin Elementary, and Bowie Elementary — breakfast and lunch times vary by site. - ➤ Over the weekend, the San Angelo Police Department updated that a shooting occurred on the 4400 block of Bermuda Drive where a 16-year-old male died from his injuries and 17-year-old Derek Carson was taken into custody and charged with murder—SAPD’s Criminal Investigations Division continues its investigation. - ➤ Angelo State Rambelles softball players Cheyanne Floyd and Tatiana Trotter were named to the College Sports Communicators Academic All-District team for the second time, recognizing their excellence in academics and on the field. Floyd is a master’s student (recording a 55-26 record and 1.96 ERA) while Trotter, an Intelligence and Analysis student who earned a golden glove, will receive more honors when the CSC announces additional awards (including Academic All-American teams) on June 17.
