GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Gov. Greg Abbott signed House Bill 2 on Wednesday to provide $8.5 billion in new funding for Texas public schools, which will raise teacher wages, support special education and improve campus safety amid years of stagnant funding. The law will largely take effect on Sept. 1 while some parts will start next year—ensuring districts receive targeted aid.  San Angelo Standard-Times
