COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Over the weekend, the Inland Fisheries San Angelo District stocked the Concho River with 600 channel catfish—boosting preparations for Free Fishing Day. The move is part of an ongoing Neighborhood Fishin’ Program, and the city hosted a Youth Fishing Derby at Celebration Bridge on Saturday.  KWFR
  • Dr. Tim R Turner — a leading San Angelo veterinarian and owner of Southwestern Livestock Mineral Co. — was honored by Texas A&M College of Veterinary Medicine and Biomedical Sciences as an outstanding alumnus for his contributions to livestock nutrition and rural care. He is one of five graduates recognized in 2025 for their service to agriculture and the community.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • A body was found near Mineral Wells Crossing in Tom Green County at about 12:22 p.m. on Thursday after a man reported missing in the Christoval area was located with an apparent gunshot wound — the investigation remains active pending an autopsy and positive identification.  San Angelo Standard-Times

  • Tourism is booming this summer in San Angelo as more visitors come to enjoy local spots like the Concho River and Lake Nasworthy—Jeremy Bartz from the Chamber of Commerce said new marketing efforts have boosted hotel stays, rates and revenue.  KWFR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Angelo ISD trustees voted Monday evening on a proposed agreement with Wall ISD to fix a clerical error in the district boundary following an audit by the Tom Green County Appraisal District—this vote was the sole action at the special meeting at the SAISD Administration Building. The board will preview the agenda for the June 16 regular meeting, which includes a Finance and Audit Committee workshop covering bond finances and construction updates.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The San Angelo Police Department will host a Southeast Advisory Meeting at the Elks Lodge from 5:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. Tuesday, June 24—community members can ask questions of Police Chief Travis Griffith and guest speakers Pastor Aaron Gonzalez and Veronica Gonzales.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Joe Self won the runoff election for the District 2 City Council seat on June 9th with 61% of the vote—turnout was low with about 5.6% of registered voters casting ballots.  KWFR
