  • Central Faith Baptist Church at 2470 Jomar had its roof destroyed by storm damage Tuesday night, causing rain to leak in and ceilings to cave in. The church has been uninsured for seven years—its provider dropped coverage after severe storms, leaving repair plans uncertain.  KWFR

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • An elderly woman in a Toyota 4Runner struck a parked vehicle on the 200 block of Van Zandt Street around 1 p.m. Thursday—she was taken to the hospital with minor injuries while officers said she might be cited for failing to control speed though the parked car was misaligned.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Local couple Jerry & Michelle Tubbs opened Dragons Toys & Collectables last week at 2421 College Hills Blvd to serve collectors of all ages in San Angelo. They plan to expand the shop by hosting card game tournaments & inviting voice actors for anime events in the future.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • San Angelo police are searching for two teens who ran away on June 9 - 15-year-old Natalie Gonzales and 16-year-old Brandon Castilla left their homes on Woodlawn Drive and Montague Avenue, and anyone with information is asked to call 325-657-4498.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • In October 2022, after picking up five undocumented migrants, Ruben Fernandez Sandoval was pursued in a high-speed chase on U.S. 377 that ended in a crash on the South Llano River near Junction—one migrant drowned and he was sentenced to 99 years in prison following a four-day trial.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • The San Angelo Community Band will perform a free concert Monday, June 16 at Sierra Vista United Methodist Church at 7 p.m.—the program, titled 'Serenades, Syncopation and Sousa' and led by Dr. Constance Kelley, will feature works by Morton Gould, John Philip Sousa, Leroy Anderson, Henry Fillmore and Jan van der Roost as part of the band’s 36th year of performances.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Santa Fe Park, which has hosted a nine‐hole golf course for over 100 years, could soon be transformed by a multi‐million dollar art project+ a new landscape design that adds bronze sculptures along the Concho River. City Council approved a resolution to fund private fundraising and will seek public input through a Request for Proposals as work begins in the coming months+ the project aims to celebrate our region’s history and enhance community spaces.  San Angelo LIVE!
