  • Free Rein Coffee in San Angelo will host a Coffee With a Cop event on Friday, June 27 at 9 a.m. at 901 S. Oakes St.—community members will get a chance to talk with San Angelo Police Department officers over coffee in a relaxed setting.  San Angelo LIVE!

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • San Angelo police have issued a NIXLE Alert advising motorists to avoid the intersection at Currier Street, Austin Street, and Knickerbocker Road next to Stripes after rescue teams used the Jaws of Life — extracting one person from a crashed vehicle.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • A sand hauler rolled over on north US 277 just north of San Angelo on Friday afternoon — the crash spilled rocks on the highway and involved a silver SUV, prompting the Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office to divert traffic at the FM 2105 intersection.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • Corrections officers at the Tom Green County Jail processed 12 bookings—charges ranged from terroristic threat and forgery to drug possession and trespass—and there are 427 inmates currently held.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • San Angelo residents can join Juneteenth celebrations starting June 19 at Martin Luther King Park through June 21 where Blackshear Heights will offer family activities including water play, tournaments, and a community meal—The Chicken Farm Art Center will host a free Summer Pop Juneteenth Market on June 19 from 5—9 p.m. Call 325-234-5802 for more details.  San Angelo Standard-Times
  • National comedian Clay Foley will perform on June 20 at the House of Fifi Dubois at 123 S Chadbourne St. in San Angelo—this family-friendly show will benefit Concho Valley PAWS, a nonprofit that rescues thousands of animals each year.  San Angelo Standard-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • The city ordered the Tye Volunteer Fire Department to turn in all equipment by June 15—failure to comply may lead to criminal charges, a move that could force the department to disband.  FOX West Texas
  • The Texas Tribune will host a public conversation in San Angelo on June 24 at Angelo State University’s LeGrand Alumni and Visitors Center to review how new state laws will affect rural Texans—doors open at 11:30 a.m. with lunch provided, and West Texas legislators including State Rep. Drew Darby will discuss topics such as the state budget, education, property taxes, water and social issues while the event is also streamed online.  San Angelo LIVE!
