ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A Chevy Tahoe ran a red light Tuesday at the intersection of North Bryant Boulevard and 19th Street—causing a four-vehicle crash that sent two people to the emergency room, police said.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Buc-ee’s will open two new Texas stores next year—one in Boerne to be the closest to San Angelo, replacing the 183-mile distant New Braunfels location, and another in San Marcos set for May.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • San Angelo police arrested 23-year-old Corrinne Valadez after officers responded just after 10 p.m. on June 15 to a stabbing at Nueva Vista Apartments at 2401 N. Lillie St—she faces an Assault Family Violence with Previous Conviction charge, was booked into Tom Green Detention Center and a $35,000 bond was set.  FOX West Texas

CULTURE NEWS

  • Downtown San Angelo, Inc. will unveil the 'Celebrating Downtown Banner Project' with colorful banners that show the city's history and character at a public event Friday, June 20 at 4 p.m. at 10 E. Concho Ave. The event will include remarks from Executive Director Monica Ramos, light refreshments — and announcements on future projects.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • San Angelo ISD trustees approved a $397 million bond sale on Monday and selected Parkhill Architects to lead design and contract management for new school projects—some of which will run through 2029. The bond sale will fund new facilities, major renovations, and safety upgrades across several campuses.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • At its June 16 Board of Trustees meeting, San Angelo ISD honored two educators as the district’s 2024 Teachers of the Year, with Lynn Springer of Santa Rita Elementary (renowned for kindness and steady support) named Elementary Teacher of the Year. The awards recognized their exceptional teaching and impact on students.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Joe Self was sworn in as San Angelo City Councilmember for District 2 on June 17th & he took the oath in a formal ceremony.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Joe Self was sworn in Tuesday morning at 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center as the new District 2 city councilmember after winning the June 7 runoff election. He will serve a four-year term ending in May 2029—Tommy Hiebert, who once served with his father, recalled a long-standing friendship during the ceremony.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • On Tuesday, the San Angelo City Council unanimously approved a resolution to partner with the Concho Valley Community Action Agency to build the Rock Rose Community Campus on 11.8 acres of city-owned land for coordinated homelessness and poverty relief services. The campus will offer daily shelter, healthcare, job training, and other essential resources—expanding the agency’s monthly Navigation Day model for low-income and unhoused residents across the Concho Valley.  San Angelo LIVE!
