Good morning, San Angelo.

U.S. News & World Report released global rankings this morning for five Texas Tech System campuses.

Angelo State in San Angelo is unranked on the global list while Lubbock campuses improved from last year and a Wichita Falls institution appeared on regional rankings.

Goodfellow AFB will conduct a severe weather exercise today.

Residents near the base may hear loud announcements over its public address system and face delays at the gates.

Today, Texas and Tom Green County are combating the new world screwworm while the DPS carries out Operation Road Guardian to enhance safety, and the TxDoT is set to improve roads in San Angelo (further details are expected).

Concho Valley PAWS urged pet owners to treat pets with anti-parasitic meds — they also advised following travel guidelines in screwworm-infected areas.

The group continues to monitor the situation for updated recommendations.

Experts say the New World Screwworm outbreak—which includes 12 confirmed cases, 11 from Texas—poses little risk to grocery prices or meat safety, though ranchers may face higher production costs; government efforts using sterile male flies will continue to control the pest.
