COMMUNITY NEWS

  • San Angelo State Park rescheduled its Star Party for today from 9 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.—visitors will join Ranger Kennie and local astronomers at 362 S FM 2288 to learn about summer constellations and how light affects visibility, with free entry for children 12 and under and a $4 fee for others.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • Corrections officers at Tom Green County Jail booked 21 people in the past 24 hours for charges including aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a fatal crash, and felony driving while intoxicated—432 individuals remain in custody.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • A San Angelo woman pleaded guilty Thursday to a hit-and-run that fatally struck 53-year-old James Dwyer on Aug. 4 last year at the intersection of 32nd Street and North Chadbourne Street—she left the scene without stopping and was later arrested on March 16 for a DWI with a blood-alcohol content nearly twice the legal limit, leading to a 10-year prison sentence.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Paintbrush Alley in downtown San Angelo features murals and sculptures by 50 local artists from 2019 — organized by Art in Uncommon Places and Downtown San Angelo Inc — that transform a block bordered by Irving and Chadbourne streets and Twohig and Concho avenues into a vibrant public art space.  San Angelo Standard-Times

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • The city of San Angelo released its annual water quality report covering 2024 and found violations in trihalomethanes levels, delays in lead notifications, and errors in public notices (city officials said the issues have since been resolved).  San Angelo Standard-Times

  • Tom Green County officials have scheduled a public auction of five horses for 10 a.m. on July 7 at the courthouse at 112 W. Beauregard Ave.—The sale follows a May 5 order and features a grey female, a sorrel female, a dun female, a cream or palomino female and a blue roan female horse.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • U.S. Northern Command has ordered tighter security measures at Goodfellow Air Force Base in San Angelo and all military installations in the continental U.S. and Alaska due to global events—employees and visitors should expect longer entry times.  San Angelo Standard-Times
