Local volunteers, the American Red Cross, the Texas Division of Emergency Management, the police and fire departments opened a shelter at PaulAnn Church after record flooding hit San Angelo on July 4.

Old Central Firehouse marked its expansion on July 4 by opening Lakehouse Pizzeria and Taproom—its second outlet—on the shores of Lake Nasworthy at 7401 Knickerbocker Road.

Guests can enjoy handcrafted pizzas, a self-serve tap wall, indoor and outdoor seating, and lake views while dining from 11 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Overnight showers and thunderstorms flooded areas of San Angelo and Tom Green County—local officials are now asking the governor for emergency support.

Tom Green County high school teams Wall and Water Valley debuted at No. 3 in Dave Campbell's Texas Football preseason rankings on Friday after both reached the state semifinals last season and returned key players (with Wall returning seven offensive starters including quarterback Landon York and Water Valley bringing back four players on both offense and defense). The upcoming season will begin with workouts on Aug. 4 as both teams aim to contend for a state title.
