COMMUNITY NEWS

  • The San Angelo Food Bank will host a drive-thru food distribution event Saturday, July 26, from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. at San Angelo Stadium — advance registration is required — to provide local residents in need access to nutritious food.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • San Angelo Police Department officers will serve tables tonight at Texas Roadhouse from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m. to raise money for Special Olympics Texas — supporting athletes in Big Country and Concho Valley as part of the statewide Law Enforcement Torch Run, joined by Tom Green County Sheriff’s Office.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • A brisket plate fundraiser is set for Sunday, July 27th—aimed at raising funds for a San Angelo couple to pay for a headstone for their daughter who died on June 29th.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Local businesses and neighbors worked together to support flood victims in San Angelo after record flooding on July 4. Donations, relief services, and volunteer efforts were underway on July 18—helping those affected by the historic event.  San Angelo Standard-Times
  • Registration is open for the City of San Angelo’s youth flag football leagues for kids ages 3 to 13, with fees of $80 per individual or $500 per team + the deadline is Aug. 10 and a preseason tournament will be held on Sept. 5 and 6, with league play from Sept. 13 to Oct. 18 and playoffs on Oct. 24 and 25 + sign-up is available online or by calling the City Recreation office.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • San Angelo will host Music in the Park at Santa Rita Park on Sunday, July 27 with live shows by Jimmy Rose and the Blues Band and Molly McMillan from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m.—the free event is sponsored by The Learning Center and Santa Rita Neighbors—and Kona Ice will serve snow cones while visitors bring chairs and blankets to sit on the grass.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Two San Angelo school leaders were honored by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals; Dr. Sarah Grace Hernandez of Texas Leadership of San Angelo High was named Outstanding Principal of the Year + Crystal King of Central High received the Assistant Principal award, recognizing their strong commitment to student success.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Crystal King was named the 2025 Region 15 Assistant Principal of the Year by the Texas Association of Secondary School Principals. She has served as Central High School's assistant principal for two years (with 24 years of experience in education) and her award honors her leadership and commitment to student success.  San Angelo Standard-Times
