- ➤ San Angelo police say that 19-year-old Joe Angel Martinez III was fatally shot on July 23 during a reported drug deal, and authorities have arrested Justin Ramirez, 17, Davon Lewis, 17, and a 16-year-old detained as a juvenile + video evidence and witness accounts supported the investigation. - ➤ Texas Highways magazine published a feature on San Angelo’s International Waterlily Collection as the garden prepares for its 20th annual Lily Fest this September. The garden in Civic League Park has over 300 water lily varieties and is managed by Chase Twombly at the City of San Angelo Parks and Recreation Department — and visitors can join tours or buy bouquets throughout the year. - ➤ Veribest ISD—nearly 12 miles from San Angelo—has supplied full school supplies for prekindergarten to 12th grade after the July 4 flooding damaged homes and businesses. Reagan County ISD said parents will need only to provide backpacks, lunchboxes and water bottles for the new school year. San Angelo Standard-Times

- ➤ San Angelo has allocated $1.3M for flood debris removal and contracted Ceres Environmental to clear flood debris through mid-September. Residents must sort debris near the curb and can use free landfill drop-offs by showing proof of residency — while Republic Services continues its regular trash pickup. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ FEMA has offered crisis counseling and unemployment assistance for residents in six counties (Burnet, Kerr, San Saba, Tom Green, Travis and Williamson) affected by flooding from July 2nd to July 18th. Those needing help can call the 24-hour Disaster Distress Helpline at 800-985-5990 while applications for unemployment benefits remain open until Sept. 4. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Today the Screwworm Coalition of Texas launched a new website to share facts on New World screwworm prevention and response with Texans, compiling information from USDA-APHIS (Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service), TAHC and TPWD.
