  • James and Tessa report that a backpack giveaway will take place at Sunset Mall on Saturday—Parker McCollum is set to visit San Angelo in early September. Authorities are also seeking a local man wanted for evading arrest and assault.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Kaelyn Rivera-Cook submitted her 0.6-pound, 9-inch Rio Grande cichlid from Spring Creek near Mertzon for a pending water record, even though records do not include the fish because it is not native to the creek—even though it is the only cichlid species native to the United States—officials may review the guidelines.  San Angelo LIVE!

ACCIDENTS NEWS

  • A two-car crash on South Bryant Boulevard at 2:45 p.m. on Wednesday reduced southbound traffic to one lane when a white pickup truck turning left after the light turned red struck a white SUV—no injuries were reported and the driver was cited for failure to yield.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • The Tom Green County Sheriff's Office is seeking information on local man Paul Garcia, a 39-year-old with brown eyes and black hair, wanted for assaulting a peace officer or judge and evading arrest causing serious bodily injury after charges were posted July 30—anyone with information is urged to call 325-655-8111.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Corrections officers at the Tom Green County Jail booked nine individuals in the past 24 hours for charges including DWI, drug distribution and felony theft — 411 remain held while all are presumed innocent until proven guilty.  San Angelo LIVE!

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • San Angelo committed up to $1.3 million for flood debris removal by contracting Ceres Environmental, with cleanup expected to continue through mid-September—residents must follow federal disaster guidelines to qualify for FEMA reimbursement while also having the option to remove debris themselves or use the free monthly landfill service for primary residences.  KWFR

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • A woman from Humble is seeking legal help after Immigration and Customs Enforcement detained her husband, Jose Navas, on Sunday while he worked in Lubbock and moved him to a detention facility near San Angelo. He moved here from El Salvador 22 years ago and owns a roofing business—his wife said he has no criminal record and is working to become a citizen as she consults an attorney.  San Angelo LIVE!

HEALTH NEWS

  • The San Angelo/Tom Green County Health Department inspected local restaurants from July 13th to 19th—recording perfect scores for some spots like CVS Pharmacy and Taco Bell while noting repeated violations at others such as El Paisano #3 and Little Caesars. The report cited issues like improper handwashing, unsafe food storage, and missing certified food managers, stressing ongoing food safety concerns.  San Angelo Standard-Times
