COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Central High School is hosting a clothing drive to help families hurt by the floods by collecting clothes at several drop-off spots until August 7 — a pickup is planned for August 8 when residents can leave bagged items on their front steps between 8 a.m. and noon.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • River Fest returns Saturday, Sept. 27, 2025 along the Concho River after a seven-year break—featuring youth football, 3-on-3 basketball at the YMCA, a skateboard competition, pony rides, a petting zoo, and a Vega washer pitching tournament. Live music is set under the Chadbourne Street bridge—ongoing construction will keep the River Stage closed and admission is free.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Central High School is hosting a clothes drive in San Angelo for families affected by the July 4 flood and will accept donations at several drop-off sites until Aug. 7 — including Happy Trails, The Carriage, Discount Tire, YMCA and the school front desk. A pick-up will occur on Aug. 8 from 8 a.m. to noon for bagged items left on doorsteps.  San Angelo Standard-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • FEMA offers disaster assistance for storm and flooding survivors in counties including Burnet — Williamson, helping with home repairs, rental aid, lodging costs and other urgent expenses. Eligible individuals must apply by Sept. 4 through online, phone or in-person options to receive support for uninsured or underinsured needs.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Congressman August Pfluger visited Goodfellow Air Force Base with top military leaders—General Dan Caine and SEAC David Isom—to highlight the base's role in training mission-ready warfighters. He joined local community leaders on the tour and praised the daily work at the facility.  San Angelo LIVE!
