Today, LIVE! reported that SA LIVE! and Arc Light Bar & Grill raised over $150,000 for flood victims — the raised funds will support local recovery efforts.

The broadcast also covered a San Angelo man arrested for severely beating a woman and the Concho Valley Motocross grand opening.

Frank Flores, 39, was arrested at 6:15 a.m. on August 3rd for violently beating a woman at a residence in the 1000 block of Zuni Avenue—she sustained a broken wrist and nose with permanent injuries when deputies responded from Shannon Medical Center, and he is held on a $150,000 bond.

The San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts will open the Global Language of Headwear exhibit on August 22, featuring 89 hats from 42 countries that express cultural identity, rites of passage, and spirituality—sponsored by Suzanne Sugg and Beverly Stribling.

An opening reception will be held on August 28 from 5:30 to 8 p.m. with music and light refreshments provided free of charge.

The San Angelo City Council will vote today at 8:30 a.m. at the McNease Convention Center on $2 million in flood recovery funds, zoning changes, and grant approvals to address recent flood damage—additional agenda items include hazard mitigation planning and recognition of Fess Parker’s 101st birthday.

The Municipal Pool ended its summer schedule and will be open on weekends from noon to 6 p.m. at 18 E.

Avenue A until Labor Day—its final day is Aug. 31 while nearby splash pads remain open until mid October.

Most high school football teams began practices Monday to prepare for the 2025 season, but San Angelo Central did not start practice.

Local teams will hold first contact on Aug. 9 and open games on Aug. 29 with Lake View hosting Fort Stockton and TLCA hosting Tahoka while Central travels to play Abilene High.

The Wall Hawks, led by first-year quarterback Landon York and seven returning starters from last year’s 13-2 run, are ranked No. 3 in state Class 3A Division II and aim for a state-title run.

Head coach Craig Slaughter said the team will rebuild on defense and start their season against Mason on Aug. 29 — a key game as Wall prepares for a competitive season.

The Lake View Chiefs are preparing for the 2025 football season with an exciting offense led by returning quarterback Chris Alvizo plus top receiver Braylon White, and they will open the season at home against Fort Stockton on Friday, Aug.

29 at San Angelo Stadium.
