  • ➤ AAA Texas is urging drivers to slow down and watch for children as students return to school today, with after-school hours posing a high risk for pedestrian crashes—drivers must avoid distractions and respect speed limits in school zones.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • ➤ Angelo State University hosts free Ram Jam tailgate events for five home football games where community members enjoy hot dogs, baked goods, and live music from 3 to 5 p.m. on game days with tailgate spots open from 11 a.m. to 8 p.m.—the season includes a Sept. 6 home opener, Sept. 20 Family Day, and Oct. 18 Homecoming.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • ➤ A driver swerved all over Abe Street on Wednesday before leaving the road and hitting parked vehicles and a pickup truck as he suffered a diabetes-related medical emergency—said police.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • ➤ San Angelo Police warned residents about a rise in scams and urged them to verify business credentials before paying—residents are advised to check business legitimacy to protect their money and peace of mind.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • ➤ San Angelo ISD is accepting applications for free and reduced-price school meals for the 2025-26 school year under federal and state guidelines—families must use one application per household and can apply online or via paper at school offices. Some campuses offer meals at no cost to all students while state funds will cover reduced-price meals starting Sept. 1, exempting August meals and a la carte items.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • ➤ A CBP MQ-9 Guardian drone from Mathis Field in San Angelo flew into deep Mexican airspace on August 13 at 3 a.m. CT, covering over 800 miles and orbiting near Mexico City in a mission reportedly requested by Mexican officials amid cartel-related intelligence efforts — the unmanned aircraft vanished from public tracking after about six hours.  San Angelo LIVE!

HEALTH NEWS

  • ➤ The San Angelo Health Department inspected restaurants from July 27 to Aug. 2 and found that many eateries earned perfect scores with places like Chipotle and Chick-fil-A meeting all standards while others such as Chicken Express and What Do Pho scored low for issues like dirty cooler doors and roaches in sugar — inspectors told owners to fix poor storage, cleaning, and ventilation practices.
