- ➤ Nexstar Media Group, which already owned four TV stations in San Angelo and Abilene, added Fox West Texas to its holdings Tuesday as part of a $6.2 billion purchase of TEGNA Inc.—the merger will join 265 stations in 44 states and is set to close in the second half of 2026—pending regulatory approval. - ➤ A $4 million steakhouse named Copper Bull is planned for a historic downtown building at 215 W. Twohig Ave.—the building, built in 1916 and listed on the National Register, is in the permit phase with plans to update its restaurant space and add an event center although no opening date has been set. - ➤ Da’Von Lewis, 17, was booked into jail on Aug. 15 for murder in connection with the fatal shooting of Joe Angel Martinez at River Pointe Apartments—police tied him to the case after reviewing security footage and witness statements from a July investigation. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ San Angelo police booked 17-year-old Da’Von Lewis into jail on Aug. 15 for his alleged role in fatally shooting Joe Angel Martinez at River Pointe Apartments on July 23—witness evidence linked him to the incident. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Corrections officers at the Tom Green County Jail reported 18 bookings in the past 24 hours — including arrests for assault on hospital personnel, Border Patrol holds and burglary of vehicles — and said 436 inmates remain in custody. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Newly released body camera footage from the 2018 San Angelo murder of 24-year-old mother Camille Garcia shows how police linked suspect Andres Rios Ramirez to the crime when he was stopped for driving without a valid license—police found a loaded pistol in his vehicle and he confessed, which led to his conviction in September 2019.
