- ➤ A house fire on the 500 block of Archer Street near Veck Street broke out around 12:30 p.m. Thursday as San Angelo firefighters battled the heavy flames from multiple angles—neighbors reported possible small explosions from propane tanks while no injuries were reported and the cause remains under investigation. - ➤ The 17th Training Wing at Goodfellow Air Force Base has issued a final call for local community leaders to apply for its 2025-2026 Honorary Commander Program before Aug. 29. The yearlong program will begin with an induction ceremony in November and offer participants an inside look at the base’s mission — including intelligence, surveillance and fire protection operations. - ➤ San Angelo Rep. Drew Darby's bill passed the Texas House yesterday and now requires youth camps to develop flood emergency plans after 27 girls died during the Camp Mystic flood.
