Mason High School basketball star Flora Appleton, who helped her team to a 40-2 record and a first state final, announced her ninth college basketball offer, including one from NCAA Division II school Texas A&M University-Texarkana.
Appleton earned additional offers from five NCAA Division I schools and other D-II programs.
Bo Davis, who rushed for 1,349 yards as a sophomore last year, was ruled ineligible by the district just days before the varsity football season after transferring from Lubbock High to Frenship Memorial — his athletic move was deemed against the rules, forcing him to miss varsity play this season.
Angelo State has named redshirt sophomore Ayden Arp (from Cedar Park High School) as its new starting quarterback; he will lead the offense in the season opener on Thursday, Aug.
27 against Fort Hays State at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field.
