  • San Angelo city officials warned residents that scammers are sending fake permit invoices that ask for wire transfers—officials said the city will never request payment this way and urged anyone with questions to call 325-657-4210.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • Painter and illustrator Ezra Tucker said that nature, books and TV sparked his art from an early age — his exhibit The Art of Ezra Tucker is on display at San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts until Sept. 7.  FOX West Texas
  • Country singer Randall King explained his honky‑tonk roots and shared that his fourth album with 11 new songs will be released in May, reflecting his early struggles in Lubbock’s red dirt scene. He will perform at Cooper's Bar‑B‑Q in Christoval on Sept. 26 and headline King Fest featuring Neal McCoy as he honors his late sister.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Angelo State University launched a new $5M Artificial Intelligence Center of Excellence at The Nexus on Sunset Drive today. The center will expand AI research and education across various campus departments—supporting online degrees and community projects throughout West Texas.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Angelo State will start its season with a rematch at Fort Hays State tomorrow at 7 p.m. after a 21-7 loss last year — Coach Jeff Girsch says both teams will fight hard in the game.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Former San Angelo Central quarterback Maverick McIvor had a sensational debut for Western Kentucky as he threw for 401 yards, three touchdowns, and one rushing touchdown in a 41 to 24 win over Sam Houston State—he transferred from Abilene Christian University and will play North Alabama on Saturday, Aug. 30 at 6 p.m.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Angelo State volleyball is picked as the preseason favorite to win the Lone Star Conference championship and junior outside hitter Madi Parrish was named preseason player of the year after recording 498 kills last season — the team will begin its season on September 5-6 at home during the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational.  KWFR
  • When Central lost its leading receiver last year, Jimmy Edwards stepped up and posted 49 catches for 825 yards and 10 touchdowns; the senior now plays alongside a healthy Colton Hill—strengthening the team’s passing game. Edwards’ performance in key matchups has given the Bobcats a strong dual-receiver option for upcoming contests.  San Angelo LIVE!
