COMMUNITY NEWS

  • Jason Farmer, a San Angelo man, camped on the EQ Channel near Twin Buttes for nearly a week until he rescued a stray dog he calls Choochi—he said he would not leave until the dog was safe.  San Angelo LIVE!

CRIME NEWS

  • Odessa Police arrested 26-year-old Nathaniel Childress on Aug. 29 at 2:41 a.m. during a directed patrol in the Oakwood and JBS Parkway area when officers stopped his vehicle for missing headlights—finding him in possession of multiple stolen firearms from San Angelo and noting that further charges may follow as investigations continue with San Angelo Police.  San Angelo LIVE!

EDUCATION NEWS

  • Angelo State University Planetarium released its fall 2025 schedule featuring 15 full-dome public astronomy shows starting Wednesday at the Vincent Building at 2333 Vanderventer St, with weekly shows on Wednesdays and Thursdays at 7 p.m. through Dec. 4—its season includes a November 40th Anniversary Celebration and multiple Season of Light programs with adult admission at $3 and $2 for children while ASU students, faculty and staff attend for free.  San Angelo Standard-Times

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • San Angelo city offices will close Monday, Sept 1 for Labor Day and reopen Tuesday at 8 a.m.—trash pickup continues while the landfill is closed today. The Municipal Pool stays open through Sunday from noon to 6 p.m. and Fort Concho offers self-guided tours Monday from 9 a.m. with set admission fees.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • Lake View football fans at San Angelo Stadium faced a lightning delay just before the scheduled 7 p.m. kickoff; by 7:15 p.m. fans returned and players resumed warming up with a revised kickoff expected at 7:30 p.m. If conditions do not improve, the game may be moved or canceled.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Lake View Chiefs opened their football season with a 42-7 win over Fort Stockton at San Angelo Stadium on Friday—junior quarterback Chris Alvizo threw for 257 yards and four touchdowns, snapping a six-game losing streak. They will play Snyder and Lamesa next before returning home to face Lubbock High on Sept. 19.  San Angelo LIVE!
