- ➤ A new roping arena is being built at the San Angelo Rodeo Grounds with a $4 million project fully funded by the San Angelo Stock Show and Rodeo Association—contractors will complete it in time for the 2025 Cinch Roping Fiesta on Oct. 25 and Oct. 26. Texas country singer-songwriter Wade Bowen will perform Saturday night and the arena will seat 4,500. San Angelo LIVE!
CRIME NEWS
- ➤ Corrections officers at the Tom Green County Jail reported 13 bookings in the past 24 hours—charges included felony drug possession, driving while intoxicated with a blood alcohol content of 0.15 or greater, and theft. San Angelo LIVE!
SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ In Week 1 of Concho Valley high school football, Ozona running back Christian Villarreal rushed for 371 yards and scored 7 touchdowns on 18 carries for a 65-0 win over McCamey—teams like the Sonora Broncos and Brady Bulldogs also won by large margins. Several teams will play again next week as they build on these strong season-opening performances. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ On Friday, the Sonora Broncos started the season with a 40 to 0 win over Miles as their defense scored twice on interceptions and quarterback Aaron Segura threw for 229 yards and two touchdowns. The Brady Bulldogs, Junction Eagles, Robert Lee Steers and Reagan County Owls also won their contests while other teams like Abilene High and San Angelo Lake View recorded wins to kick off Week 1.
