🎓 Education
San Angelo ISD board voted 6-0 Tuesday to claim a state exception for the 2026-27 school year, allowing school resource and overtime officers to cover campuses because law enforcement suffers staffing shortages.
The board said the current plan provides security at every campus each day.
🌲 Environment
Texas Parks and Wildlife confirmed that Fort Phantom Hill Lake near Abilene is now fully infested with zebra mussels after detecting multiple growth stages; boaters are urged to clean, drain & dry their boats to help slow the spread.
🏛️ Government
The San Angelo City Council approved two public art projects yesterday at a meeting at City Hall, giving local artists a new way to enhance public spaces.

After a 41-19 win over Fort Stockton, the Lake View Chiefs plan to build on their season opener as they host the Snyder Tigers Friday at 7 p.m. at San Angelo Stadium — coach Hector Guevara stressed fixing early blocking and kickoff issues.
Angelo State Rams will travel Thursday night to Gunnison to face No. 11 Western Colorado at 7 p.m. as they look to rebound from a season-opening loss while maintaining a 7-0 all-time record against the Mountaineers.
