ACCIDENTS NEWS
- ➤ A crash on Southwest Boulevard occurred at 10:45 a.m. near the Sherwood Way intersection when a white Ford Mustang failed to yield the right of way while turning left into the parking lot of Freddy’s Frozen Custard and Steakburgers, causing a collision with a white Kia Soul and resulting in both vehicles being towed and both drivers being taken to hospital— the Mustang driver will be cited. - ➤ Smalls Sliders, a fast-growing burger chain built in bright orange shipping containers, announced plans to expand its slider-only menu to San Angelo and three other West Texas cities. - ➤ Corrections officers at Tom Green County Jail reported 17 bookings in the past 24 hours – including ICE holds, a second DWI offense, and burglary of a habitation – with 433 individuals now booked. San Angelo LIVE!
GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ San Angelo City Council approved a $13.2M contract on Tuesday to extend the Chadbourne Street revitalization with 24 months of planned construction. The project will improve sidewalks, lighting and other street features while businesses remain open during some block-by-block closures — funds come from a federal grant, TIRZ and street bond funds. - ➤ San Angelo residents will face higher property tax bills next year after the City Council approved an increased tax rate to help pay for the coliseum bond and other expenses; the new budget was adopted by a 6—1 vote on Tuesday and will add about $150 to the average homestead bill. The tax has risen from 75 cents to about 79 cents per $100 of property value. San Angelo Standard-Times
- ➤ Congressman August Pfluger honored two Texas National Guard units on the House floor for their rescue efforts during the July 4 flood that devastated parts of Central and West Texas, including the 449th Aviation Support Battalion led by San Angelo native Lieutenant Colonel Jordan Boyd. The units rescued 366 lives and reunited hundreds of families—recognizing the coordinated efforts of pilots, maintainers, and support staff. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ Angelo State University's Office of the Laura W. Bush Institute for Women's Health will host Dia de la Mujer on Saturday, Sept. 6 at Houston Harte University Center, 1910 Rosemont Drive, to offer free bilingual health information for women.
