  • San Angelo will host a free 9/11 remembrance ceremony at 9 a.m. on Sept. 11 near the monument by the Concho River—local fire and police departments will honor the heroes and fallen, and the event is open to all.  San Angelo LIVE!

ENVIRONMENT NEWS

  • Texas Parks and Wildlife’s Inland Fisheries Division has restocked downtown Concho River with 600 catchable channel catfish as part of its Neighborhood Fishin' program — the stocking will continue every two weeks until October.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Texas officials extended the deadline for Disaster Unemployment Assistance until September 29 for people in 10 counties including Tom Green who lost work due to Fourth of July flooding — the extra days will let affected workers and the self-employed apply for support.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • Governor Greg Abbott has directed the Texas Division of Emergency Management to activate state resources for heavy rain and flash flooding expected this weekend—rescue teams, doctors, and road monitors are ready to help. Texans are urged to follow local advice and prepare an emergency kit.  San Angelo LIVE!

SPORTS NEWS

  • The No. 10-ranked Angelo State football team will host Emporia State today at 6 p.m. at LeGrand Stadium at 1st Community Credit Union Field—after losing 17-12 to Emporia last year, the Rams recently beat Fort Hays State and now hope to complete a revenge sweep of Kansas teams.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Lake View Chiefs led the Snyder Tigers by a score of 28—6 at the half as quarterback Chris Alvizo threw three touchdown passes and the defense forced several turnovers—Snyder scored late but still trailed behind. The strong play by the Chiefs kept them in control at the break.  San Angelo LIVE!
