- ➤ San Angelo fire and police departments will host a 9/11 ceremony on Thursday at 9 a.m. at the 9/11 monument near Celebration Bridge along the Concho River — adjacent to the San Angelo Museum of Fine Arts at 1 Love St — to honor the heroes and fallen from Sept. 11, 2001. Fire chief Patrick Brody will open the event as state Rep. Drew Darby, Mayor Tom Thompson, and keynote speaker Col. Jason A. Gerber deliver their remarks. San Angelo Standard-Times

- ➤ On Monday, September 8 at 11:45 a.m.—a San Angelo man was sent to the hospital after a white pickup doing maintenance work went over ramps and struck him on private property at the intersection of South Milton Street and Colorado Avenue. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ San Angelo will soon have a new Smalls Sliders outlet—using orange shipping containers to serve burgers, shakes, and waffle fries—after a franchising agreement was signed with C5 Restaurants. The company plans additional outlets in Abilene, Amarillo and Lubbock, where the first location will open within 12 months. San Angelo Standard-Times

- ➤ Corrections officers reported that 5 individuals were booked at Tom Green County Jail in the past 24 hours for charges including unlawful possession of a firearm by a felon — assault causing bodily injury in a family violence case — and burglary of vehicles. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Derreck Stringfield, 39, was arrested for threatening a man with his gun—he was shot in self defense on August 8th near North Monroe Street and now is held on a $250,000 bond. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ Angelo State University will host Dr. Benjamin Powell for a public lecture on sweatshops and global labor practices today at 5:30 p.m. in Room 100 of the Mathematics-Computer Science Building at 2200 Dena Drive—Powell will use economic data and theory to show how these jobs can offer better work options for workers. SPORTS NEWS
- ➤ The #10 Angelo State Rams built an early 27—0 lead with a pick-six and a key interception that set up a touchdown before winning 41—20 over Emporia State on Saturday even though starting quarterback Braeden Fuller left with a knee injury and backup Kaeden Smith threw two touchdown passes and ran for a touchdown; they will open LSC play at Eastern New Mexico this Saturday. The #2 volleyball team won four home matches with a five—set win over #23 Colorado Mesa while the soccer team tied 1—1 with Oklahoma Baptist in their second match. KWFR
- ➤ Lake View Chiefs improved to 2-0 with a 49-28 win at Snyder—building a 28-0 first-half lead and with QB Chris Alvizo throwing for 276 yards and five touchdowns—and will face Lamesa on Friday. The Wall Hawks avenged their loss with a 35-10 win over Brownwood as they maintained a strong record by winning 16 of their last 17 games. KWFR
- ➤ West Texas high school football district standings have been updated ahead of Week Three with teams showing a range of records while San Angelo TLCA remains winless with no wins and two district losses. Several teams like Permian and Lake View have earned a win and teams across the region are set to face new matchups this week — adding fresh challenges for local and regional squads. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Angelo State defensive back Demetrias Charles was named LSC Defensive Player of the Week after he recorded two interceptions in Saturday's 41–20 win over Emporia State—he returned one pick 21 yards for a touchdown and led the team with six tackles.
