- ➤ The 50th Annual Taste of San Angelo returns today at Spur Arena — located at 4720 Grape Creek Road — with unlimited tastings, craft beverages, and live entertainment until 10 p.m. The event is hosted by the San Angelo Restaurant Association to benefit the Texas Restaurant Foundation. KWFR
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ On Monday, San Angelo ISD defended Lake View High School’s closed-campus lunch policy to boost safety and academics while parents and students raised concerns over small portions and crowding. Superintendent Dr. Christopher Moran said free breakfast and lunch were provided and more deli-style tables will be added—officials will closely monitor food service conditions. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ On Monday, 1,500 channel catfish averaging 10-12 inches were stocked in O.C. Fisher Reservoir at San Angelo State Park to help rebuild the fish population - the reservoir was below 1% capacity last year but rose to about 16% after heavy July rains. On Friday, 600 catchable catfish were stocked in the Concho River downtown and further stockings will occur every two weeks until the end of October. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Over 2,000 channel catfish have been restocked in San Angelo waters today with about 600 catchable fish placed in the Concho River near downtown and 1,500 fish averaging 10—12 inches introduced in the OC Fisher reservoir; restocking will continue every two weeks through the end of October. HEALTH NEWS
- ➤ The Texas Well Owner Network will host a free water screening event on Sept.15 and Sept.16 for private well owners in Tom Green, Sterling, Irion and Runnels counties who may have had wells contaminated by July floods. Sample drop-offs on Sept.15 will be held from 8:30 until 11 a.m. at AgriLife Extension offices, including the San Angelo office at 113 W. Beauregard Ave—follow-up meetings on Sept.16 will share test results and guidance. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ Angelo State football earned a 21-point win—raising their ranking to #8 in the Division 2 coaches poll—last weekend. Defensive back Demetrias Charles was named Lone Star Conference defensive player of the week after making two interceptions, and the Rams will begin LSC play this Saturday at Eastern New Mexico at 7:00 p.m. KWFR
- ➤ Angelo State junior outside hitter Madi Parrish was named national volleyball player of the week by the American Volleyball Coaches Association after strong performances at the Kathleen Brasfield Invitational — a feat that marked her as the first Belle to earn multiple national honors. The finance major recorded 54 kills and only seven errors in key matches as she led her team to several wins. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Angelo State’s No. 18 women’s soccer team will play two road matches in Colorado, facing CSU Pueblo on Thursday at 7 p.m. and MSU Denver on Saturday at 1 p.m. They started 0-1-1 and are looking to earn their first win of the 2025 season after freshman Wrilyn Shippey recorded the team’s first goal.
