  • A San Angelo youth named Niyeleigh Fernandez caught a nearly 28-pound Smallmouth Buffalo while fishing with her family at Glenmore Park, and her catch—measuring 33-3/4 inches—is set to become a record for Lone Wolf Lake.  San Angelo LIVE!

  • Di Roma Restaurant closed its Sherwood Way location temporarily + will reopen on Sept. 15 at its new spot on Chadbourne Street with an expanded menu that adds authentic Mexican dishes. The old property is now listed for sale at $745,000.  San Angelo LIVE!

CULTURE NEWS

  • Jon Stork, a country singer and songwriter, is performing at the Texas Country Tailgate at Arc Light Bar and Grill tonight. He left heavy touring to focus on his family and now writes and records music — including his new single Cowboy— while balancing work on a rural farm.  San Angelo LIVE!

GOVERNMENT NEWS

  • Rep. August Pfluger backed the House defense bill that gave $100M for Goodfellow Air Force Base housing — the bill also funds improvements at Fort Hood and other Texas military projects.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The U.S. Census Bureau released its latest American Community Survey on Thursday showing San Angelo has 99,661 residents—up from 97,183 in 2023—and the data is used in federal funding decisions.  San Angelo Standard-Times

SPORTS NEWS

  • The San Angelo Lake View football team won 44-27 against Lamesa last Friday to improve to a 3-0 record for the first time since 2019—its offense scored at least 42 points in every win. They will host Lubbock High at 7 p.m. Friday, Sept. 19 at San Angelo Stadium.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Central Bobcats hosted the Abilene Cooper Cougars at San Angelo Stadium on Friday night and battled in a slugfest that left Abilene ahead 14—10 at halftime. The Bobcats had a key play when Gabriel Garcia made a 60 yard touchdown, though they remain winless in 2025.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Central Bobcats won a close game 40—35 over Abilene Cooper on Friday night, marking their first victory in four games. The team gained momentum in the fourth quarter with a safety and sealed the win with an interception before they travel to Belton next week at 7 p.m.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • The Wall Hawks defense shut out No. 10 Jim Ned Indians with a 24—0 win on Friday in Tuscola—Wall now 3—0 will face Monahans next week while Jim Ned visits Jacksboro.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • It is Week 3 of Texas High School Football in the Concho Valley as the 2-0 Brady Bulldogs face the 2-0 Ozone Lions in McCulloch County—while the 0-2 San Angelo Central Bobcats will play Abilene Cooper and the Lake View Chiefs aim for 3-0 against the Golden Tornadoes. The COVER1 Crew names a Player of the Week and looks at college games this weekend.  San Angelo LIVE!
  • No. 8 Angelo State will open conference play on Saturday against Eastern New Mexico at Al Whitehead Field—riding a 41—20 win over Emporia State after forcing four turnovers early in the game.  San Angelo LIVE!
