- ➤ The Railroad Commission of Texas issued 560 drilling permits in August, including 61 in San Angelo, covering new oil and gas wells, reentries, re-completions, and field transfers. Midland led the state with 224 permits + San Angelo recorded 120 new oil completions. San Angelo LIVE!
EDUCATION NEWS
- ➤ The Texas Education Agency is investigating about 180 complaints after teachers posted online comments about conservative activist Charlie Kirk's death, and several school districts have already removed educators for their remarks—agency commissioner Mike Morath said he would recommend suspending licenses for those disciplined. GOVERNMENT NEWS
- ➤ On Tuesday the San Angelo City Council voted unanimously to end a five-year, $162K contract with PAWS and bring animal rescue services in-house as the contract expires Sept. 30. City Manager Daniel Valenzuela said the change will lead to a new adoption plan starting in two weeks and help keep stray animals off the streets. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ The Texas Department of Transportation will hold a free Car Seat Check-Up event this Friday at 9 a.m.—noon at TxDOT San Angelo at 4502 Knickerbocker Road. Parents must bring their child, vehicle owner's manual, and car seat instruction booklet and call 210-289-7928 to schedule an appointment. San Angelo Standard-Times
- ➤ San Angelo has hired Amanda Weddle as its new animal services manager based on her 25 years of animal care experience. She started on September 15 and will oversee animal control, shelter management, community outreach and the enforcement of local laws—supporting the city's animal services. San Angelo LIVE!

- ➤ The Angelo State women’s soccer team begins Lone Star Conference play today when they face No. 7 Dallas Baptist at 5:30 p.m. in Dallas— they will host Lubbock Christian at 1 p.m. on Saturday at the LeGrand Soccer Complex in San Angelo. San Angelo LIVE!
- ➤ Angelo State's football team is ranked #6 in the nation in both Division 2 polls after beating Eastern New Mexico 31-20, marking their highest ranking since September 5. Two players earned Lone Star Conference honors and the Rams will play Western New Mexico on Saturday at 6 p.m. for Family Day. KWFR
